University of Southern Mindanao (USM) is a premier land‑grant state university located in Kabacan, North Cotabato, in the Soccsksargen region of Southern Mindanao. Formerly known as Mindanao Institute of Technology, USM was founded in 1954 and achieved university status in 1978. It is recognized as one of the leading state universities in the country for agricultural education and was among the first SUCs to attain Level IV status.
