Central Philippine University (CPU), located in Jaro, Iloilo City, is the first Baptist university and the second university established by Americans in Asia. Founded in 1905 as the Jaro Industrial School, CPU was the first school in the Philippines to integrate industrial education with Christian teachings. CPU is the only university in Iloilo City with CHED Autonomous Status, certified ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, and has been declared by Iloilo as a tourism site.
