The University of Rizal System (URS) was realized through the joint efforts of former Congressman Gilberto M. Duavit and former Governor Casimiro M. Ynares, Jr., and came into being through Republic Act No. 9157 on August 12, 2001, by merging the former Rizal Polytechnic College (in Morong), Rizal State College (in Tanay), and Rizal Technological Institute (Antipolo Campus). URS stands today as an established tertiary institution with ten campuses around the province of Rizal: Angono, Antipolo, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Montalban, Morong, Pililla, Tanay, and Taytay. It offers complete education from Kindergarten to Graduate School and implements academic programs in doctorate, masters, baccalaureate, non‑degree, and short‑term courses.
URS provides a practical, technology‑oriented learning environment that combines classroom instruction with hands‑on experience in education, business, information technology, and industrial technology.
